Nicholas Battye

This is young Nicholas Battye, and his is the distinctive voice heard during the opening and closing titles of each episode in the Titch TV series.

The song was composed by famous musician Michael Nyman with lyrics by Pat Hutchins. Pat had decided that she wanted a Yorkshire boy to sing the song, and Nicholas was selected after Mollusc Music held auditions at his school.

Would you like to sing along?

Well now you can!

Here are are two sound files which you will be able to listen to if you have RealPlayer installed on your computer. (If you don't have it, you can download it for free, from here).

The first sound file includes Nicholas' singing to help you practice, the second does not.

And to help you, here are the words...

My brother and sister think I'm very small
But I'm growing a bit every day, every day
and when I'll be big
I'll be good at the games that they say I'm too little to play
My brother and sister are bigger than me
But I'll keep on growing and then they'll see
That I can do everything all on my own
They won't have to help me because I'll have grown

Have you finished? So how did you do?

Were you good, OK or just plain terrible?

You might like to know that sheet music for the theme song is available - take a look at the shop page for further details.
